Naturkompaniet is in Sweden one of the most well respected retailers of outdoor clothes and equipment from the world’s leading brands. With a legacy business system, POS software and falling behind website, Naturkompaniet had to make a game shifting technical uprising of business critical systems and processes.
I was engaged as independent Project Manager to manage both Naturkompaniet, Microsoft partner Tydab and infrastructure vendor CoreIT, throughout the project, from analysis and design to a working deployed solution in all stores and for all business processes. We successfully migrated from the legacy ERP and POS systems, ensured no dependencies were left to those, and rolled-out Microsoft Dynamics AX2012 for Retail, in stores and HQ. We transformed more or less all major business processes such as Procurement, Supply Chain and Stores operations.
It was a very interesting and challenging project since Dynamics AX2012 was just released and we were one of the first to implement the POS solution in real life. We were also really dedicated to build a solid foundation for the Omni channel journey ahead. Naturkompaniet was also quite inexperienced in business and IT projects and rather immature process and methodology wise. I setup project governance principles and managed the suppliers as well as forming proper support and development process and organization to continue on after project go live. A key success factor was the open mind Naturkompaniet had to transform their business processes, or genuine willingness to improve. Another success factor was the setup in which developers and business working very closely together in the same team creating magic. Short or no lead time between coding and business validating, which is usually not the case in ERP projects.
A great team delivered the committed scope on time and budget, including data migration, roll-out of new central and store infrastructure, staff training and new business routines and processes.
